Artist Statement:
For Grand Master Warfare, I took very heavy inspiration from FPS Chess. I wanted to create a game like that, but with personality and more of a nostalgic feel. I chose a cartoony visual style for Grand Master Warfare because I wanted the game to feel fun and humorous to the player. During the production of this project, I have vastly improved my skills in Unreal Engine programming and Blender modelling. I have also learnt new skills such as texturing and UV unwrapping during the process of making the chess pieces. This project was very ambitious code-wise for the skills I had 2 months ago. I decided to go through with this idea because I knew it would push me into becoming much better at problem solving and programming. Overall, I am very happy that I did choose this idea because I am now much more confident with my skills and can very clearly see the improvement between previous projects and this one.
